Indonesia Calling 1946

Two weeks after the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, in August 1945, Indonesian Independence leaders proclaimed “Indonesia Merdeka!” ‘Freedom for Indonesia’ and an end to Dutch colonial rule over the Netherlands East Indies. Internationally renowned Dutch filmmaker Joris Ivens, in Australia as Film Commissioner for the Netherlands East Indies government in exile, resigned his position in protest against Dutch policy, which sought to re-impose its colonial rule. In collaboration with Indonesian activists, Chinese, Indian and Australian trade unionists, and local artists and filmmakers, Ivens made Indonesia Calling, a film documenting the crucial role of Australian trade union support in the establishment of the new Republic of Indonesia. Ivens’ film was an activist documentary; it actively contributed to the events it depicted. All those who worked on it became ‘adversely known’ to the security services.

Soekarno 2013

1942, The Nederlands(ch)-Indië Government in Java Island captured Soekarno, an aspiring young man who wants to free Indonesia from colonialism. He was then put in Banceuy Prison at Bandung, Indonesia. Instead of lamenting, Soekarno found a way to fight back by delivering his famous defence oration "Indonesi Acccuse!" in his trial at Bandung Laandraad Courthouse. This story follows the life of Soekarno, Republic of Indonesia's first president, from his childhood until he managed to proclaimed Indonesian freedom with M. Hatta.

Dutch Filmmaker Joris Ivens resigned as Film Commissioner for the Netherlands East Indies and made Indonesia Calling! documenting the trade union actions and supporting Indonesian independence. This documentary revisits the making of Ivens' radical film, Australia's early relationship with Indonesia and the impact of Ivens' film. Seputar Indonesia, is the Indonesia's longest running newscast carried by a private television station. It appeared on RCTI on 15 November 1989 as Seputar Jakarta before it evolved to go nationwide on 15 November 1990. Since the end of 2005, the program has regained its position as the most-watched newscast in the country, according to ratings by Nielsen Media Research. During its early years, Seputar Indonesia was also carried by RCTI's then sister station SCTV. X Factor Indonesia 2012

The X Factor Indonesia is an Indonesian reality television music competition to find new singing talent; the winner of which receives a 1 billion rupiah including a recording contract with Sony Music Indonesia. Premiered on December 28, 2012 on RCTI, it is the second franchise to be adapted in Southeast Asia after the Philippines. As part of the British The X Factor franchise, the show's format has numerous differences from rivals such as Indonesian Idol. The competition is open to both solo artists and groups and has no upper age limit. Each judge is assigned one of four categories—boys between 15 and 25, girls between 15 and 25, individuals 26 and over, or groups. Throughout the live shows the judges act as mentors to their category, helping to decide song choices, styling and staging, while judging contestants from the other categories; they also compete to ensure that their act wins the competition, thus making them the winning judge. The original judging panel was Ahmad Dhani, Rossa, Anggun, and Bebi Romeo, with Robby Purba as the host. There has been one winner of the show to date: Fatin Shidqia.

The Voice Indonesia is a reality television singing competition created by John de Mol which is scheduled to premiere in Indonesia in 10 February 2013 on Indosiar. The format is Dutch and the original Dutch version of the programme was broadcast in the Netherlands for the first time in 2010 as The Voice of Holland. And this show is a replacement for the previous show is also a singing contest, Akademi Fantasi Indosiar. The programme was commissioned after a successful first series in the US, where the programme aired on NBC. It will be produced by Indosiar in Indonesia. The winner receives Rp 100,000,000, a car, and a record deal with Universal Republic Records.

Miss Indonesia Earth is one of the major beauty pageants in Indonesia which focuses on environmental awareness, culture, and ecotourism. The slogan of the pageant is Beauty and Nature and organized by Yayasan Putri Bumi Indonesia. In 2013, the national franchise for Indonesia was acquired by El John Pageants. The first Miss Indonesia Earth pageant was held in 2007. The grand winner represents Indonesia in the international Miss Earth pageant.
